Toy Fox Terrier

The Toy Fox Terrier is a very happy dog, with lots of energy. It will spend time hunting small rodents and can be easy to train. It can be accepting of other pets and dogs if she is socialized while a pup. It can be somewhat fragile as a result of her small size, so it is better for this dog to be around older, calmer children than young children. It is never a good idea to leave a young child along with a puppy or dog.

The size of an adult of the Toy Fox Terrier over two years is approximately 10 inches to the withers, or highest point of the shoulder, and between 3.5 and 7 pounds.

The Toy Fox Terrier goes by the name of American Toy Terrier, or AmerToy. From the name, it's easy to know that it is in the “toy” group of dogs.

Many dog breeds have inherited health issues for their particular breed and there is no exception for the Toy Fox Terrier. Some of these dogs will develop allergies to corn, wheat and beets. For details about health concerns for your breed, be sure to check with your veterinarian.

This dog should visit her veterinarian at least a few times during the first year to get shots, along with boosters and regular check ups. When an adult, visits to the veterinarian can be annual for check up and shots. When the dog is older, beyond six years, visits should once again be several months apart for check ups any shots. Never feed your dog sweets to keep them healthy.

The teeth can be brushed a minimum of twice per week using toothpaste and toothbrush specially for dogs. the brushing will remove plaque and tartar each of which can cause the occasional cavity and also periodontal disease. Periodontal disease in dogs can be quite painful, as well as lead to tooth loss, bad breath and other disease.

Check her toenails regularly for growth and clipping as needed. The rear foot toenails will grow more slowly than the front toenails.

The coat of the Toy Fox Terrier is quite smooth and easy to care. This dog requires regular brushing, which helps to keep her coat healthy and clean. It also gives the owner a chance to oversee health in general and bond with their pet.

The Toy Fox Terrier will have a usually life span of 13 to 14 years given correct nutrition, good health care and quality living conditions.
